Learner Agency (Episode 6): Learner’s Sense of Purpose

Effective teachers know their students and then use their creativity and knowledge of the big ideas of the standards to intentionally plan for authentic opportunities where learners are able to build their sense of purpose. Feeling a sense of purpose is at the top of the hierarchy of self-actualization and is an intrinsic motivator. In this podcast, we talk about ways for educators to intentionally think about and plan for meaningful work that allows learners to contribute inside and outside the classroom. The result? These authentic and meaningful experiences along with time to reflect helps to build a community of learners that feel they are connected and important contributors in their community.
